Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court Thursday put to rest the protracted legal battle between actor-turned politician Anubhav Mohanty and his actor wife Varsha Priyadarshini by allowing the couple to split.
A division bench comprising Justice Arindam Sinha and Justice Sibo Sankar Mishra overturned the decision of the Cuttack Family court that had rejected the divorce petition of the couple, last month.
Counsel for Anubhav, Lalit Mishra said that the court took into consideration the available materials on record to establish that the marriage was not consummated, as cited by his client in seeking divorce.
“The court examined the order of the judge of the Family court rejecting the divorce case and announced that the case deserves divorce,” he added.
In July 2020, Anubhav had filed the divorce petition in a Delhi court in July 2020 citing non-consummation of his marriage with the actress. On a direction of the Supreme Court in March 2021, the case was transferred to the Family court in Cuttack.
