Bhubaneswar: Talented young director Raja Dash is now making his mark in the industry with his hard work. It became possible after directing more than 100 albums. He jumped onto the bandwagon of movie making with flicks like Durgatinashini, Tu Mo Sathire, Tu Mo Sathire 2, Prasthanam and others. He is now ready with his new movie ‘Dasama’, a youth-centric movie. This movie narrates a tale from a youth from his school days.
The movie, directed by Raja and presented by D Films Cine Productions and Shradhanjali Entertainment, will be released in cinema halls across the state on January 18, 2024.
Talking to Odia Celebrity, Raja said, “The movie is a youth-centric movie set in a school. The time frame has been set in 2007. It talks about things experienced by youngsters during school days, such as friendship, first love, the education system of school, etc. He added that all the people who were once students would relate to it.”
He also said, “Dasama is very close to my life and can be related to everybody who studied in school. The story tells the life story of a group of friends who study in class X and their journey and experience together. It gives a message of enjoying the student’s life as it, once gone, will not return.” Raja said that he hope the audience would love Dasama as it gives a sweet message and will touch people of the state closely.
In the movie, there is no one star but multiple characters. Actor Sailendra, with whom Raja had worked in many albums and movies, is also playing one of the key roles.
“I had worked with Sailendra in many albums and movies and had a good relationship. He is also a good actor. So I naturally, I desired to take him in the movie,” he said.
Raja, who had started his career by assisting directors such as Sudhanshu Mohan Sahoo and Susant Mani, said, “My father worked as a costume designer for the movie and had worked with actors such as Prashant Nanda and Sriram Panda and others, so naturally I was inclined towards films.”
Raja said the digital revolution helped him in creating his mark because of the digital medium. “My albums got a huge liking and helped me a lot,” he said.
Raja will not get a break after Dasama as he had two back-to-back movies –the romantic movie Aashiq Surrender Hela and the comedy movie Inspector Sana, which will be released after Dasama.
Raja said, “Actually, the movie Aashiq Surrender Hela was actually my first movie as a director, but I wasn’t able to release it for some reason. I have some other projects in the kitty, but for now. I am focused on the Dasama release as it’s the home production.”
