Bhubaneswar: Talented Bengali actress Raagini Sutradhar who has done many Bengali and Odia movies, including Ek Tuku Choya Lage, Mu Eka Tumara, Gadbad, Hari Om Hari, Tume Thile Sathire, Dekha Hela Prema Hela, Lage Prema Najar and others is ready with another new Odia movie Shanti Apartment directed by Aswin Tripathy starring her in lead role.
Raagini, who debuted in the Odia industry with Mu Eka Tumara opposite Sabyasachi Mishra in 2013, had done several movies in her more than a decade-old career in the Odia industry and had shared the screen with all the big stars such as Sidhant Mahapatra, Sabyasachi Mishra, Amlan Das, Deepak Kumar Barik, Subhasis Sharma and Abhishek Rath and others.
Talking to Odia celebrity, Raagini said that she is excited about her new movie Shanti Apartment, saying it is a crime thriller based on some actual incidents, and she is playing the role of a housewife and mother who suffers a lot of abuse in her marriage and how her life had taken a different turn after the incident.
In the movie, Sushasis Sharma plays her husband’s role, while Dipanwit plays the role of a cop. Raagini said she had worked with Subhasis in Dekha Hela Prema Hela and is a good friend.
About getting the role, Raagini said was looking for a good subject for a long time, and when Director Aswin came up with the story, she immediately agreed to do it. It was because the character was related to the role of a wife and mother. Despite all the suffering, she had to be strong for her daughter.
About working with director Aswin she said, “Aswin is a very talented director. He is also an old friend and has known him since his anchoring days. Also it was a great experience.”
Raagini is part of the list of several Bengali actresses, such as Jhilik Bhattacharjee, Patrali Chattopadhyay, and Rachana Banerjee, who worked in Odia movies.
Raagini said that she is getting so much love from fans and they think of her as their own and. “I also felt Odisha as my home and that’s why I am here working continuously,”: she said.
About the experience of working in both Odia and Bengali, she said that she saw both industries as the same and saw no difference.
Raagini started her movie career in 2012 and said, “I am blessed to be in the move industry as it was always my dream to be an actress and had learned a lot from my co-actors and director and still learning.”
About her future, Raagini, who has also worked in Telugu movies such as Khayyum Bhai, said that she would produce a Marathi movie soon and also has some other projects.
