Bhubaneswar: Popular Odia film actress Archita Sahu is riding high on the success of her recent films, marking an impressive run at the box office.
Her latest film, Pade Akasha, has completed over four successful weeks in theatres, where she portrays Sruti Mohapatra, a disability inclusion expert.
Speaking to Odia Celebrity, Archita said that playing the role of a wheelchair-bound character was very challenging—especially mentally—as it required her to deeply understand and portray the emotional strength of someone living with a disability.”
Following Pade Akasha, Archita had a busy Raja season, appearing in two major films, one as a producer and the other as an actress: Ananta and Bou Buttu Bhuta.
Archita expressed her excitement about both ventures. “I am excited to debut as a producer with Ananta and had great fun working in Bou Buttu Bhuta as well,” she said.
On producing Ananta, she shared “Producing such a good story was a great opportunity. It excited and motivated me to take on this new role.”
When asked about the controversy surrounding the film’s title change at the last moment, Archita responded candidly:
“We decided to change the title after realizing it unintentionally hurt the sentiments of some groups. It was a thoughtful decision made out of respect.”
Archita also spoke about working with her husband, actor Sabyasachi Mishra, who was involved in the production of Ananta.
“We both come from the same profession, and while it’s difficult to manage work and personal life, trust and understanding are key. In marriage, trust is even more important than love.”
Regarding Bou Buttu Bhuta, Archita described it as a big-budget horror film, distinct from the horror movies she did earlier in her career.
“Although I’ve acted in horror films before, this one is on a much bigger canvas and is very different in terms of storytelling and visuals,” she said.
Celebrating two decades in the Odia film industry, Archita—who began her career in 2005 with O My Love—reflected on her journey “I’ve grown along with the industry and learned so much from fellow actors, directors, and filmmakers. The industry has evolved significantly over the last twenty years.”
As for future plans, Archita hinted at exciting developments ahead “We’re planning a few projects and looking to invest in good stories. I want to focus on meaningful cinema that connects with the audience.”
With a thriving career as both an actress and a producer, Archita Sahu continues to leave an indelible mark on the Odia film industry.
