Bhubaneswar: Odia film Maliput Melodies, a cinematic portrayal of the scenic beauty, culture and people of Koraput, is set to release in theatres on September 18. Produced under the banner of Kaustav Dreamworks Studios, the film has received a U/A certificate.

The film had earlier earned recognition on the national and international festival circuit. It was the only Odia feature film selected in the Indian Panorama Feature Film category at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025 in Goa, where it was screened to audiences and received appreciation.
Maliput Melodies presents a portrayal of life and struggles in Koraput while showcasing the region’s rich art, culture, literature and music. Through its narrative and visuals, the film seeks to take audiences into the lives of the simple people living amid the forests and hills of the region.
Besides IFFI, the film has been selected at several film festivals and award platforms, including the Jaipur International Film Festival, National Indian Film Festival of Australia, Kolkata International Film Festival, Chennai International Film Festival, Jagran Film Festival, Seven Continents Awards and Madrid Film Awards.

Built around an original Odia subject, the film combines an emotional story with a family-oriented narrative that its makers say is distinct from conventional Odia cinema.
One of the film’s notable features is its cast. Rather than relying on familiar faces from the film industry, around 75 per cent of the artistes are reportedly local talents from villages, while the remaining 25 per cent comprise theatre artistes.

The makers have also highlighted the film’s songs, music, story, dialogues, screenplay and performances as key attractions. The film is expected to offer viewers a visual journey through the landscapes and cultural richness of Koraput.
The film has been directed by emerging filmmaker Vishal Patnaik, who has sought to capture the essence and fragrance of his native land on screen. He has been supported by experienced producer Kaushik Das.
Tosh Nanda has handled the songs and music, while Sudhakar Pattnaik is the story writer. Ram Pattnaik and Kaustav Das are the co-producers. The film’s promotional and publicity activities are being handled by Media Planner Creative Head Pranay Jethi.
The production team has appealed to audiences to extend their support and encouragement to the film as it prepares for its theatrical release on September 18.
