Bhubaneswar: Odia film Ananta emerged as the biggest winner at the recently held 58th Banichitra Awards, bagging almost all the major honours and reaffirming its position as one of the most celebrated films in recent Odia cinema.
Actor Sabyasachi Mishra, who portrayed the titular character Ananta, won the Best Actor award. The film’s directors, Sabyasachi Mahapatra and Kumar C. Dev, were honoured with the Best Director award.

The Best Film award was jointly received by the production banners Amara Music, Sabyasachi Films, and Shivans Films. The award was accepted on behalf of the producers by Suraj Mohanty.
Adding to the film’s success, actress Jyotirmayee Panda won the Best Supporting Actress award for her portrayal of mother Devaki Gouduni, while noted writer Nirmal Nayak was recognised as Best Lyricist.
The achievement has brought immense joy to the Ananta team and is being viewed as a landmark moment for the Odia film industry. Adapted from an Odia literary classic by legendary writer Fakir Mohan Senapati, Ananta took the bold step of transforming a classic work into a commercial cinematic venture.
After earning audience appreciation and commercial success, the film’s recognition by critics and the awards jury is being seen as a positive sign for Odia cinema. Industry observers believe Ananta’s success could inspire a new generation of filmmakers and producers to adapt more literary classics into commercially appealing films in the years ahead.
