Dipanwit Das Mohapatra Celebrates Third National Award-Winning Odia Film Association as ‘Lahari’ Bags Top Honour
From 'Pratikshya' to 'Daman' to 'Lahari': Dipanwit's National Award Hat-trick
Bhubaneswar: Actor Dipanwit Das Mohapatra is celebrating yet another milestone in his career after Lahari was named Best Odia Feature Film at the 72nd National Film Awards, making it the third National Award-winning Odia film he has been associated with.
Expressing his excitement following the announcement on Saturday, Dipanwit shared an emotional note on social media, reflecting on his remarkable journey with three nationally recognised Odia films.

The achievement places Dipanwit among a select group of Odia actors to have been associated with multiple National Award-winning films, underlining his growing contribution to content-driven cinema in the state.
The latest addition to that list, Lahari, directed by Amartya Bhattacharyya and produced by Jhilik Bhattacharjee, won the Best Odia Feature Film award at the 72nd National Film Awards. The winners were announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at a press conference held at the National Media Centre in New Delhi on Saturday evening.
Released in 2025, Lahari explores the clash between tradition and urban capitalism in a rural Indian setting. The film follows two friends—a fisherman, Dinu, and a boatman, Bhuta—as they struggle to preserve their traditional livelihoods against the growing pressures of commercialisation and tourism. The film has been widely praised for its socially relevant narrative, visual storytelling and authentic portrayal of rural Odisha.
Following the award, producer Jhilik Bhattacharjee thanked the people of Odisha and the country for embracing the film. She described the recognition as a proud moment for Odia cinema and dedicated the honour to the entire cast and crew, saying the award reflected the power of meaningful storytelling and the collective efforts of everyone involved.
With Pratikshya, Daman and now Lahari earning National Award recognition, Dipanwit Das Mohapatra’s association with critically acclaimed Odia cinema continues to grow, reinforcing the rising national prominence of the state’s film industry.
