Priyanka Chopra unveils trailer of The Cycle of Love, spotlighting Odisha man’s epic love story
Priyanka Chopra-backed documentary traces Odisha-born artist P.K. Mahanandia's 6,000-mile bicycle journey from India to Sweden for love
Bhubaneswar: Global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas has unveiled the trailer of The Cycle of Love, a documentary inspired by the extraordinary true story of Odisha-born artist P.K. Mahanandia, whose 6,000-mile bicycle journey from India to Sweden in pursuit of love has become one of the world’s most remarkable real-life romances.
The documentary, executive produced by Priyanka Chopra Jonas and directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Orlando von Einsiedel, recounts how Mahanandia met Swedish tourist Charlotte “Lotta” von Schedvin while sketching portraits on the streets of New Delhi in the 1970s. After the two fell in love and Lotta returned to Sweden, Mahanandia embarked on an epic bicycle journey across Asia and Europe to reunite with her.

Sharing the trailer, Priyanka described the film as “one of those rare, almost unbelievable true stories” that celebrates hope, resilience and the enduring power of love. She said the documentary is a reminder that some of the greatest stories are rooted in real life.
The film blends archival footage, interviews with the real-life couple and dramatized recreations featuring actors Chirag Benedict Lobo and Mina Dale as the younger P.K. Mahanandia and Lotta. It is scheduled to premiere in New York on August 28 before its UK release in September.
For Odisha, the documentary carries special significance. P.K. Mahanandia was born in Kandhapadar village in Anugola district and rose from humble beginnings to become an acclaimed artist. His incredible journey across continents has inspired books, films and countless retellings over the years.
With The Cycle of Love, his story is set to reach a global audience, celebrating not only an extraordinary romance but also the determination and spirit of an artist from Odisha whose journey continues to inspire generations.
