Bhubaneswar: Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan has praised the efforts of Ollywood actor Sabyasachi Mishra for bringing the hidden Jagannath temple in Uttarkashi of Uttarakhand into limelight.
Pradhan on Monday spoke with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami urging him to develop the reportedly neglected Jagannath Temple at Sald village in Uttarkashi.
In his official social media account, Pradhan said, “I discussed with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami through videoconferencing about the maintenance and improvement work of Sreejagannath Temple in Salad Village, Uttarkashi. Thank You CM Dhami fo fulfilling the request and promising to improve the worship and Nitikanti in the temple of Odia’s worshiping deity Sri Jagannath and to beautify the temple.”
This has become possible due to the interest of the people and the will of the Lord. This Jagannath Dham at Uttarakashi will strengthen the cultural and spiritual ties of Uttarakhand and Odisha and will symbolise one India, the best India, he said.
Kudos to Janardhan Pattajoshi Mohapatra, the temple’s servant, actor Sabyasachi Mishra and actress Archita Sahu for bringing this temple to the public, the Minister added.
The star couple of Odia film industry Sabyasachi and Archita also known as Sabyarchita had recently visited the temple near the district headquarters of Uttarkashi and took stock of the situation by interacting with the priests there. They mobilised the devotees from Sald and nearby villages to visit the temple.
Later, the actor couple accompanied by the villagers went to the temple, performed puja and offered prasad to the deities.
The temple, located at a height of around 3,000 ft above sea level, is one of the oldest temples of Jagannath. Unlike other temples, the Lord is worshipped here in the form of stones.
