Bhubaneswar: The makers of the upcoming Odia horror film KANKANA have unveiled its official trailer, offering audiences a glimpse into a chilling world of folklore, mystery and supernatural horror. Adding to the buzz, the makers have announced that the film will be Odisha’s first no-interval movie, promising viewers an uninterrupted cinematic experience.

Directed by Prithvi Raj Pattnaik, the film stars Supriya Nayak, Ankita Mohanty, Suryamayee Mohapatra and Choudhury Jayaprakash Das in key roles. The trailer, released by DB Motion Picturez, carries the intriguing tagline, “Some promises are never meant to be broken,” hinting at a gripping narrative driven by dark secrets and haunting mysteries.

The makers have urged audiences to experience the film on the big screen with friends and family. KANKANA is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 20, 2026.

The no-interval format is one of the major talking points surrounding the film. By doing away with the conventional interval break, the makers aim to keep audiences immersed in the story from beginning to end.

The film had earlier generated curiosity through its first-look teaser and individual character posters, which introduced the principal cast in striking, never-seen-before avatars. Its first single, ‘Dagaraa Pimpudi‘, featuring Supriya Nayak, was also released as part of the promotional campaign. The song is sung by Aseema Panda, composed by Somesh Satpathy and penned by Ranjan Nayak.

Produced by Deepak Mahapatra and Bhabani Shankar Subudhi under the banner of DB Motion Picturez, KANKANA marks the production house’s maiden venture. Prakash Films is handling its theatrical release.

The film was initially scheduled to release on September 18 but was postponed due to unforeseen issues and post-production work. The makers subsequently announced November 20 as its revised release date.

With its horror theme, folklore-inspired narrative and the promise of a no-interval format, KANKANA is looking to offer a distinct theatrical experience to Odia cinema audiences.
