National award winning Odia movie ‘Daman’ to be re-release in cinema halls

Bhubaneswar: Odia movie Daman which has won the 70th National Film Award in the Best Odia Film category for the year 2022, will be released again in Durga Puja.

The movie will release in cinema hall of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Rourkela and Angul. Also the movie will start streaming at Aao NXT OTT platform on October 15.

The movie stars Babushaan Mohanty and directed by Vishal Mourya and Debi Prasad Lenka tracks the journey of Dr Siddharth Mohanty to eradicate malaria, released in 2022.

DAMaN is an acronym for Durgama Anchalare Malaria Nirakarana (malaria control in inaccessible areas), which has benefited around 8,000 villages in Odisha.

The JP Motion Pictures movie ‘Daman’, portrays a doctor’s relentless fight against superstitions and struggle to make tribal people aware of facts about Malaria disease.
The film has been considered inspirational for fresh graduate doctors. The film also stars actor Dipanwit Dashmohapatra and members of local tribal communities of Malkangiri and Koraput who have acted in a film for the first time.
