Hindi murder mystery, rooted in Cuttack and shot entirely in Odisha, to release nationwide in November
Bhubaneswar: The trailer of Hindi film Lohitaksha, produced under the Gan Vikas Films banner, has been released, marking the Bollywood directorial debut of Odia filmmaker Bhupindarra, who began his career in the entertainment industry in Odisha.
Based on a murder mystery, Lohitaksha is written, produced and directed by Bhupindarra, who started his career as an anchor before establishing himself as an actor and producer in the Odia film industry. He has produced several Odia films, including Shubha Bibaha and Jagu Auto Bala, and has also featured in music videos and films.
The story of Lohitaksha is rooted in Cuttack, and the entire film has been shot in Odisha. The makers say the film also conveys several social messages, bringing an Odia setting and local storytelling to a Hindi-language audience.

The film features a blend of Bollywood and Ollywood actors. Siddhant, son of veteran Bollywood actor Puneet Issar, makes his entry through the film. Bollywood actors Apsara and Kamlesh Sawant, along with Sukumar Tudu, are also part of the cast.
Representing the Odia film industry are Bobby Mishra, Bhupinder, Gaurav Mohanty, Dipesh, Jiban Panda, Mohan Majithia, Sushant Das Mahapatra, Dipali, Shruti Shubhashree and Suman Maharana, among others.
The trailer launch event was attended by Bhupinder’s childhood friend Sandeep Agrawal, along with actors Bobby Mishra, Jiban Panda, Nishant Majithia, Mohan Majithia, Suman Maharana, Gaurav Mohanty and Shruti Shubhashree. Singer Amrita Bharati and Ranjita Majumdar, wife of late music director Abhijit Majumdar, were also present. Those attending appreciated the trailer, while Bhupinder’s childhood friends encouraged and supported his directorial venture.
More than 100 influencers also gathered as part of the film’s promotional campaign.
Dipali Debasmita Dash has written the story, while Bhupinder has handled the screenplay, production and direction. Nishant Majithia has penned the dialogues. Sarada Krishna Sahu is the cinematographer, and Manas Kumar Sahu has edited the film.
The music direction was led by late Abhijit Majumdar. Abhijit Tripathy has composed the film’s theme song for the first time, while Nabs and Saroj have also contributed as music directors. Sanjay Mahakud has served as the executive producer, and Pranay Jethi, creative head of Media Planner, is overseeing publicity and promotion.
For Bhupindaraa, Lohitaksha marks a new chapter after years of working in the Odia entertainment industry. Moving from acting and film production to directing a Hindi feature film, he is seeking to take Odia talent and storytelling to a wider national audience.
Speaking to the media, Bhupinder attributed his journey from Ollywood to Bollywood to the blessings of Lord Jagannath and his late parents. His directorial debut also brings together artists from Odisha and the Hindi film industry, creating opportunities for Odia performers to reach audiences beyond the state.
The film is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release in November. Bhupinder expressed hope that the project would receive widespread appreciation across India, while members of the Odia film fraternity have extended their wishes for his new venture.
