‘Dandakali’ Grand Premiere Comes With a Surprise: ‘Sahara Jaluchhi’ Sequel Announced

Bhubaneswar: Ending months of anticipation, Rajashree Cinecraft’s much-awaited Odia film ‘Dandakali’ premiered at Shreya Talkies in Bhubaneswar, drawing a gathering of filmmakers, actors, technicians and other members of the Odia film industry.

The premiere also witnessed the announcement of the production house’s second film, ‘Sahara Jaluchhi: Continued’, which will be directed by veteran filmmaker Sudhanshu Mohan Sahu.

Based on the glory and legends associated with Maa Dandakali, the star-studded ‘Dandakali’ features a story by Abhishikta Mishra and screenplay and dialogues by Dilip Chaudhury. Sahu has directed the film, while Deepak Kumar has handled cinematography.

The film has been produced by Rajashree Ghosh under the Rajashree Cinecraft banner, with Sukanta Kumar Sahu as executive producer.

Music has been composed by Prem Anand, with singers including Antara Chakraborty, Pragya Hota, Kuldeep and Sabisesh lending their voices. Bapu Goswami and Dr Nirmal Nayak have penned the songs.

The cast includes Mahasweta Ray, Sidhant Mohapatra, Suryamayee Mohapatra, Chitrasen Ghosh, Tripti Mirambika, Choudhury Jayaprakash Das, Usasi Mishra, KK, Elina Padhi, Udit Guru, Nihar Samal, Amar Mohapatra, Kusum Tripathy, Pritiranjan, Madhu, Sridhar and Ritam.

The film’s music has already received a positive response, with songs such as ‘Mu Tuma Badhu Nirupama’ and ‘Premare Padila Ki Hrudaya Mora’ gaining popularity and trending among listeners.

Distributed by Jitu Khandelwal, ‘Dandakali’ is currently being screened in around 60 theatres with approximately 120 shows.

‘Sahara Jaluchhi’ sequel announced

At the premiere event, Rajashree Cinecraft unveiled the title of its next production — ‘Sahara Jaluchhi: Continued’.

The upcoming film will be a sequel to the 1998 Odia action film ‘Sahara Jaluchhi’, which was also directed by Sudhanshu Mohan Sahu. The original film had achieved significant commercial success at the box office and earned popularity among Odia moviegoers.

Sahu will return as director for the sequel, bringing the story of the earlier action film into a new chapter.

By announcing the title of its next film at the grand premiere of its debut production, Rajashree Cinecraft has sought to establish a distinctive tradition in the Odia film industry.
