‘Dahaan – The Evil Within’ hits theatres, promises a spine-chilling family horror experience

Bhubaneswar: Odia horror film ‘Dahaan – The Evil Within’, produced under Amiy Patnaik Productions, has been released in theatres on the occasion of Ganesh Puja.

A premiere show of the film was held at Maharaja Cinema Hall, drawing several filmmakers, producers, critics, artistes and members of the film’s cast and crew.

Directed by Anupam Patnaik and produced by Barsha Patnaik and Anupam Patnaik, the film revolves around the story of two sisters and explores their deep and mysterious connection. The makers said the film has been designed as a complete horror experience, with audiences at the premiere reportedly reacting with fear to its supernatural elements.

The film’s central theme is reflected in its tagline and narrative—one sister is fighting the darkness while the other is consumed by a burning force within, hinting at the complex bond between the two characters.
Barsha Patnaik and Aurosikha Mishra play the lead roles in the film.

The cast also includes Samrat Mahapatra, Sijan Mahapatra, Partha Sarathi Ray, Choudhury Jayaprakash Das, Nishant Majithia, Pranab Prasanna Rath, Navya Jaiti and Prasanjit Mahapatra, among others.
The makers have described ‘Dahaan’ as Odisha’s first complete family-oriented horror film, aiming to offer a supernatural story that can be enjoyed by a wider audience.

With anticipation building around a full-fledged ghost story in Odia cinema, the film’s reception from the first day is expected to determine whether ‘Dahaan’ succeeds in leaving a lasting impression on viewers.
