Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s biggest festival, Rath Yatra, is set to bring a grand celebration for movie lovers as five Odia films are lined up for theatrical release over two consecutive weeks, making it one of the busiest festive release windows for Ollywood in recent years.

The biggest attractions of the season will arrive on July 16, when The Millet Diary and Ganda Bhairav hit the big screen, while the recently released Bara Badhu returns to theatres with a special Rath Yatra re-release.
Among the festive releases, The Millet Diary promises a unique blend of history, romance and Odisha’s cultural heritage.
Directed by Rajendra Mohanta and produced under the Infyson Entertainment banner, the film explores the state’s rich millet legacy, Kabiraji healing traditions and the history of ancient Kalinga. Starring Sidhanta Mahapatra, Abhishek Panda, Sivani Sangita, Raj Rajesh and Sritam Das, the film celebrates Odisha’s cultural identity while highlighting the importance of Shree Anna (millets).

Joining the Rath Yatra race is Ganda Bhairav, directed by Sudhanshu Mohan Sahoo and produced under the RR Events and Cine Production banner. Based on Sankar Tripathy’s acclaimed Odia novel of the same name, the action drama stars Devasis Patra in the lead alongside Sivani Sangita. The recently released teaser has generated excitement with its intense action sequences and promises a mass entertainer during the festive season.

Adding to the festive buzz is the re-release of Bara Badhu, giving audiences another opportunity to watch the family entertainer on the big screen during the holiday period.
The Rath Yatra season will begin a week earlier, on July 10, with the release of two socially relevant films.

Guruji Namaskar, directed by Jitendriya Pradhan, tells the inspiring story of a dedicated rural school teacher who goes beyond the classroom to safeguard the future of his students. The award-winning film has already received recognition at several national film festivals and has been backed by a statewide campaign honouring teachers across Odisha.

The second July 10 release, Linebala, directed by Niranjan Behera, pays tribute to electricity line workers who risk their lives to ensure uninterrupted power supply. Starring Sambeet Acharya and Swapna Priyadarsini, the film is inspired by real-life incidents and highlights the sacrifices of these often-overlooked frontline workers.
With a diverse slate ranging from action and period drama to social subjects and family entertainment, Ollywood is banking on the festive holiday season to draw audiences back to cinema halls. The packed release calendar reflects the industry’s growing confidence in delivering original stories across genres, making this Rath Yatra one of the most significant theatrical seasons for Odia cinema in recent years.
