Bhubaneswar: Marking the festive spirit of Raja Parba, the vibrant Odia song “Eh Nonni” was released on Thursday on the India Independent Music YouTube channel, offering a colourful musical tribute to one of Odisha’s most cherished festivals.
Composed by Vaibhav Pani and rendered by Prakruti Mishra and Biswajit Mahapatra, the song celebrates the essence of Raja Parba, a unique festival that honours womanhood, fertility, nature and the arrival of the monsoon.
Through its lively folk-inspired melodies and rich regional storytelling, “Eh Nonni” captures the joy, colour and cultural vibrancy associated with the festival.
The song’s lyrics paint vivid images of Raja celebrations across Odisha — swings hanging from trees, women dressed in colourful traditional attire, feet adorned with alta, festive gatherings and communities coming together in celebration. At its core, the song reflects the deep bond between women, nature and the seasonal cycles symbolised by Raja Parba.
Blending authentic Odia folk elements with contemporary music production, “Eh Nonni” seeks to connect traditional cultural values with modern audiences. The track evokes nostalgia while presenting Odisha’s cultural identity in a fresh and engaging format for the younger generation.
Earlier, while announcing the song, Vaibhav Pani described Raja as a one-of-a-kind festival that celebrates womanhood in all its glory. The project features performances by actress-singer Prakruti Mishra and musician Biswajit Mahapatra, bringing together a blend of artistic talent to showcase Odisha’s cultural heritage.
