National Award-Winning Actor Sanjay Mishra to Make Odia Film Debut

Bhubaneswar, August 13: National Award-winning actor Sanjay Mishra is set to make his Odia film debut with an upcoming romantic entertainer from Auroshree Films, bringing one of Hindi cinema’s acclaimed performers to the Odia screen.

Directed by Mrutyunjay Sahoo, the yet-to-be-titled film has already gone on floors and is currently being shot. The film is being planned as a major Durga Puja 2026 release.
Mishra will feature alongside Maheswata Ray, Akash, Bhoomika, Sanoj, Pragya, Sushant and Krishna Kar in the film, which promises a nostalgic take on romance inspired by the flavour of the 1980s.

The makers have introduced the project with the tagline “80s Romance is Back”, describing it as a blend of romance, drama and timeless emotions. The film is expected to take audiences on a nostalgic journey while presenting the era’s romantic sensibilities to a contemporary audience.

Mishra, an alumnus of the National School of Drama, has built a reputation for his versatility across comedy, drama and character-driven roles. His notable films include Ankhon Dekhi, Masaan, Phas Gaye Re Obama, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Kadvi Hawa, Kaamyaab and Vadh.

His performance in Ankhon Dekhi earned him the Filmfare Critics’ Award for Best Actor, while he received the same honour again for Vadh. He has also been widely recognised for his performances in films such as Masaan and Kadvi Hawa.

Mishra’s entry into Odia cinema comes at a significant point in his career, following his recognition at the 72nd National Film Awards, where he won the award for Best Supporting Actor.

While the title and details of Mishra’s character are yet to be revealed, his Odia debut and the film’s 1980s-inspired romantic theme have already created curiosity around the project.

With shooting underway, the Auroshree Films production is gearing up for a festive-season release during Durga Puja 2026.
