Kangula Crosses Rs 1.02 Crore in 12 Days, Continues Strong Box Office Run

Bhubaneswar: The Odia film KANGULA – Maa Kali Ra Danda Nacha has crossed a significant milestone at the box office, with the makers announcing a gross collection of over Rs 1.02 crore within 12 days of its release.

The film continues its successful theatrical run across Odisha, backed by steady audience turnout and positive word of mouth.

Released on April 24, Kangula had opened with Rs 8.57 lakh on Day 1 and went on to collect Rs 31.89 lakh in its first three days, setting the tone for a strong box office performance. The latest figures underline the film’s growing popularity and sustained momentum.

Directed by Aswin Tripathy, the film is inspired by Odisha’s sacred Danda Nacha tradition and blends devotion, mystery, sacrifice and divine power. The narrative revolves around the intense spiritual energy associated with Maa Kali, offering a culturally rooted cinematic experience.

The film stars Sambeet Acharya in the lead role, alongside Suryamayee Mohapatra, Abhishek Giri, and Sritam Das in key roles. Actress Payal Routray also features in a special dance number that became popular during the promotional phase.

Produced by Suvendra Kumar Malla (Litu) and Sambeet Acharya, Kangula had built strong buzz ahead of release through its trailer and songs such as “Anugul Ra Tukuli” and “To Pari Haba Kie,” both of which received strong audience response.

With the film now entering the Rs 1 crore club within less than two weeks, Kangula has emerged as a major success in the Odia film industry, and is expected to continue its steady run in the coming days.
