Bhubaneswar: Odia horror-comedy Mantra Muugdha has continued its impressive run at the box office, collecting ₹73.17 lakh (India Net Box Office Collection) within the first three days of its release.
After opening with a solid ₹21.51 lakh on Day 1, the film has maintained steady momentum over the weekend, indicating a positive audience response and growing word-of-mouth across cinema halls.
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Anupam Pattnaik, the film released on May 1 in more than 50 theatres across Odisha, along with screenings in cities such as Bengaluru and Hyderabad, expanding its footprint beyond the state.
Featuring a young ensemble cast including Sarthak, Sanoj, Manmay and Uma, the film has been promoted as a fresh take on the horror-comedy genre in Odia cinema.
Produced under the banner of Amiya Pattnaik Productions, Mantra Muugdha had built strong pre-release buzz. Its trailer crossed one million views on YouTube, while the promotional track Daba Bhitare Pas, sung by Papu Pom Pom, gained popularity for its quirky and energetic appeal.
The film also received a U/A certificate prior to release, making it suitable for family audiences. Adding to its visibility, actor Abhishek Banerjee—known for Stree—shared the trailer, further boosting its reach among wider audiences.
The story revolves around a group of friends who visit a mysterious palace and encounter eerie and unexplained events, blending horror, comedy, suspense and music into a complete entertainer.
With a strong three-day total and positive audience feedback, Mantra Muugdha is expected to maintain its box office performance in the coming days.
