Mehermunda Teaser Out, Film Set for May 15 Release Across Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The teaser of upcoming Odia film Mehermunda has been officially released, offering audiences a glimpse into a heartfelt story rooted in Odisha’s rich handloom tradition.

The makers have also announced that the film will hit theatres across the state on May 15, raising anticipation among moviegoers and fans of socially driven cinema.

Produced by GR Records, Mehermunda focuses on the emotional and economic struggles of traditional handloom saree weavers—artisans who preserve Odisha’s heritage through their craftsmanship but often remain under-recognized and underpaid. The teaser hints at a powerful narrative blending culture, emotion, and realism.

The film stars Jyoti Ranjan Nayak and Arlin Ankita in lead roles, with Rakesh Padhi, Susanta Dasmohapatra, and Santu Nije playing key supporting characters. Directed by Nikunj Hota, the project is produced by Rakesh Kumar Padhi and Gyanranjan Behera. Music for the film has been composed by Amit Yuvraaj and Chandraniv Saha.

Lead actor Jyoti Ranjan Nayak, last seen in Rangashoor, takes on a strong role in this socially relevant narrative. Meanwhile, Arlin Ankita was most recently seen in Sanatani opposite Sambeet Acharya.
