Odia Film Lahari Hits Theatres After Global Festival Success

Bhubaneswar: After earning accolades at the Kolkata International Film Festival and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, Odia film Lahari hit the big screens across more than 30 cinema halls in Odisha on Friday.

A special premiere show was hosted at Cinepolis, Bhubaneswar, attended by the cast, crew, and makers of the movie.

Directed by internationally acclaimed and National Award-winning filmmaker Amartya Bhattacharyya, Lahari is a poignant and visually captivating tale of friendship, fatherhood, and coming-of-age, set against the scenic backdrop of Odisha’s eco-tourism destinations. The film celebrates the state’s culture, natural beauty, and entrepreneurial spirit while narrating an emotional story of relationships, personal growth, and life’s challenges in a fast-changing world.

Produced by young Odia producer Jhilik Bhattacharjee under the banner of Jhilik Motion Pictures, the film features an ensemble cast including Choudhury Jayaprakash Das, Choudhury Bikash Das, Dipanwit Dashmohapatra, Smruti Ranjan Mahala (child artist), Susant Misra, Swastik Choudhury, and Zeinab Doer. Popular actor Devasis Patra makes a guest appearance, while Odia superstar Babushan Mohanty adds star power with a special cameo.

The film’s music is composed by Kisaloy Roy, with vocals by Gaurav Anand and Navya Jaity. Sound design is helmed by Anindit Roy and Adeep Singh Manki. Besides directing, Amartya Bhattacharyya has also written the story, penned the lyrics, handled cinematography, and editing—bringing his multifaceted artistry to the forefront.

With its striking visuals, soulful music, and deep emotional core, Lahari is positioned as both a moving cinematic experience and a celebration of Odisha on the global stage.
