Where Cinema Meets Literature: Bindusagar Film Team Shines at KLF Readers’ Meet

Bhubaneswar:Cinema and literature found a shared stage on Saturday evening as the team of the Odia film Bindusagar attended a vibrant literary gathering organised by the KLF Readers’ Club at the historic Bindusagar in the heart of the city.

The event, an initiative of the Kalinga Literary Festival, was held under the evocative theme “Where Words Find Worth: Readers as Literature’s Greatest Treasure.” Set against the serene backdrop of the iconic waterbody, the gathering brought together readers, writers, and cultural enthusiasts for an engaging exchange of ideas, creative readings, and reflections on the enduring power of storytelling.

Adding star value to the evening, actor Dipanwit Dash Mohapatra, writer Abhishek Das, and Abhinandan Das from Bindusagar joined the interaction, drawing attention to the deep connection between literature and cinema. The trio shared insights into the making of the film and reflected on how literary sensibilities shaped its narrative and emotional depth.

Speaking at the event, the film’s team emphasised that cinema, much like literature, thrives on the imagination and interpretation of its audience. They highlighted how stories rooted in culture and heritage—such as those surrounding Bindusagar—continue to inspire filmmakers and writers alike. Their presence lent a cinematic dimension to the literary dialogue, underlining how storytelling transcends mediums.

The session witnessed active participation from noted literary enthusiasts including Swarup Nayak, Krushna Chandra Sethi, Jitu Pradhan, Rasananda Sahu, Abhas Baral, Vichitra Kumar, Raykishore Pati, Bichitra Nanda Rath, Jyotiranjan Barik, Anshuman Sahoo, Badal Mohanty, Rashmiranjan Panda, Sangram Maharana, Ranjan Kumar Patra, Pradipta Sumdar, Parambrambrahma, Smarajit Swain and several others, who shared poetry, prose, and personal reading experiences.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Kalinga Literary Festival Founder and Director Rashmi Ranjan Parida, while KLF Convenor Bedaprakash Nayak chaired the session, stressing the need to cultivate reading habits among the younger generation. The event was coordinated by Manasi Panigrahi, Sanat Kumar Dash, and Suparjya Swain.

The KLF Readers’ Club continues to foster meaningful literary conversations in Odisha, and Saturday’s gathering stood as a testament to the evolving synergy between books and the big screen—proving that at Bindusagar, stories flow as timelessly as the waters themselves.

Directed by Abhishek Swain, the film explores themes of love, loss, faith and homecoming, weaving an emotionally rich narrative deeply rooted in Odia culture while resonating with universal human experiences.

The film features a strong ensemble cast including Prakruti Mishra, Dipanwita Dashmohapatra, Sonalli Sharmisstha and Satya Ranjan in lead roles, alongside veteran performers Sukant Rath, Robin Das and Pranab Rath.

Bindusagar is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on April 10, 2026.
