The release of Puri Jagannadh’s latest movie, ‘Liger,’ headlined by Vijay Deverakonda along with Ananya Panday has caused a stir in the Telugu film industry. Exhibitors and leasers are now protesting at the Film Chamber, demanding refunds for their losses.

The film was released theatrically all over on 25 August 2022, and it was received poorly by both critics and audiences alike.

The movie marks the Tollywood debut of boxing legend Mike Tyson. ‘Liger’ was eagerly awaited by fans of the stars, and the industry expected it to be a massive hit. However, things did not go as planned, and the film turned out to be a box-office bomb, with collections far below expectations.

The movie’s budget was reportedly Rs 200 crore, but it earned only Rs 60 crore, resulting in significant losses for exhibitors and leasers. The negative reviews and word-of-mouth have affected the film’s collections, and it has not been able to recover the production costs.
