Title Revealed! ‘KANKANA’ Promises a Chilling Blend of Myth and Mystery
KANKANA' First Look Out: Suryamayee, Supriya, Ankita and Jayaprakash in Never-Seen-Before Avatars
Bhubaneswar: The mystery has finally been unveiled. The makers of director Prithvi Raj Pattnaik’s upcoming Odia film have officially revealed its title as KANKANA, along with the intriguing first looks of its principal cast, offering audiences a glimpse into what promises to be a dark and suspenseful cinematic experience.

The film, produced by the newly launched DB Pictures, stars Suryamayee Mohapatra, Supriya Nayak, Ankita Mohanty, and Choudhary Jayaprakash Das in striking, never-seen-before avatars. Each character poster hints at a story steeped in myth, mystery and psychological intrigue.
Introducing Suryamayee Mohapatra’s character, the makers wrote, “Not every scream is born of fear. Some awaken destiny. Prepare to witness a world where myth, mystery and darkness collide.”
Supriya Nayak’s first look suggests a deceptive and layered character, accompanied by the caption: “She looks innocent. She earns your trust. But beneath that smile lies a truth no one could ever imagine.”

For Ankita Mohanty, the makers promised a role that would “haunt your imagination,” teasing audiences with another mysterious character from the film’s world.
Meanwhile, Choudhary Jayaprakash Das was introduced in what the makers described as his “most intense and unrecognizable look yet,” adding, “A face you’ll never forget. A mystery you’ll never escape.”
The makers also confirmed that KANKANA will hit theatres on September 18, 2026, with the tagline, “The mystery unfolds in theatres on 18.09.26.”

Directed by Prithvi Raj Pattnaik, the film marks another experimental venture for the filmmaker, who is known for Gupchup (2022), Malyagiri (2023), and BHAI: The Opening Part (2025). Before unveiling the title, the team had built anticipation by revealing only the initials of the film’s name and sharing cryptic promotional messages across social media, sparking widespread speculation among fans.
KANKANA also marks the debut production of DB Pictures, an Odisha-based production house founded in 2026 by Deepak K. Mohapatra and Bhabani Subudhi. As the banner’s maiden venture, the film is expected to introduce audiences to a fresh blend of mythology, mystery and suspense when it arrives in cinemas this September.
