Anupam Patnaik’s Horror Film ‘Dahaan’ to Reveal Release Date on July 8; Filmmaker Promises a Chilling Cinematic Experience
Bhubaneswar: After entertaining audiences with the horror-comedy Mantra Muugdha, filmmaker Anupam Patnaik is set to explore a darker cinematic space with his upcoming horror film, Dahaan – The Evil Within.
The makers have announced that the film’s release date will be revealed on July 8, 2026, accompanied by the teaser message: “From making you laugh, to making you scream in fear… Stay ready. Evil is about to awaken.”
A self-confessed fan of the horror genre, Anupam Patnaik says Dahaan will take audiences on a terrifying journey into the depths of fear while weaving in the complexities of strained family relationships. Unlike Mantra Muugdha, which blended scares with humour, Dahaan promises to deliver an intense and atmospheric horror experience.
Following the success of Manta Muugdha, which resonated with audiences, Anupam is now aiming to push the boundaries of horror filmmaking in Odia cinema with a technically ambitious production.
Music composer Ashish Pradhan and his young team have crafted a haunting background score designed to heighten the film’s suspense. The eerie atmosphere is further strengthened by sound designer Shakti Swaroop Dwibedy and sync sound recordist Tukna Chandra Sekhar Sharma, underscoring the filmmakers’ belief that effective sound is at the heart of great horror.
The film has been edited by Rashmi Ranjan Dash, known for his work on Gangs of Puri, Falguna Chaitra, and T. The cast features Barsha Patnaik alongside debutants Aurosikha Mishra, Sijan Mahapatra, and Nishant Majithia. They are joined by experienced actors Partha Sarathi Ray, Choudhury Jay Prakash Das, and Pranab Rath.
Cinematographer Deepak Kumar has captured the film’s visual landscape, with the makers promising striking imagery that complements its supernatural and psychological elements. Together, the visuals, sound, and emotionally layered narrative are expected to offer audiences a gripping horror experience.
