“Anubhaba” is an 18-minute short film that delicately explores the emotional fabric of parent-child relationships. Inspired by the timeless words of Bhakta Kabi Madhusudan Rao—“Baikuntha samana Aha ate sehi ghara, paraspara sneha jahin thae nirantara”—the narrative centers around a lower-middle-class government employee who leads a modest life, commuting daily on a bicycle.
On the eve of his son’s birthday, the father is emotionally cornered when his son insists—through arguments and guilt—that he be gifted a motorbike within two days. Despite being unprepared financially and emotionally, he still tries to make it happen—only to face an unexpected and poignant twist at theend.
The film features veteran actor Jayprakash in the lead role, alongside promising young talent Sansit as the son. Pinky Pradhan herself appears in a never-seen-before, de-glamourized avatar, delivering a nuanced performance that complements the film’s realism.
