Odisha Shines as Iconic India International Open Gateball Tournament 2025 Concludes at Kalinga Stadium

Bhubaneswar: The Iconic India International Open Gateball Tournament 2025 concluded successfully on Monday at the world-class Kalinga Stadium, thrilling fans and players with two days of intense competition and sporting camaraderie. The tournament drew elite teams from India and abroad, showcasing exceptional talent, strategic play, and teamwork.

The colourful closing ceremony was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Dr. Karunakar Pradhan, General Secretary of Bharatiya Shiksha Vikash Sansthan; Rtn. Manoj Ku. Tripathy, District Governor, RID 3262; Dr. Prabodh Mohanty; Mr. Ajit Bain; Dr. Akhaya Ku. Rout, MD of Sushruta Hospital; Maj. Dr. Kalpana Das; Rtn. Yagyasish Mohapatra, IPDG; Ajaya Ku. Samal, ECR, who attended as the Chief Guests on the concluding day. Their presence added grandeur to the event, highlighting Gateball’s growing prominence in India.

The Organising Committee, led by Chairman Tarini Prasad Mohanty and Secretary Umakantha Jena, ensured the smooth conduct of the tournament, with active support from committee members Rashi Agarwal, Santosh Ku. Sahoo, Darshan Kumar, Manas Mohanty, Dr. Umakanta Pani, Dwaipayan Pattnaik, Sarat Ku. Patra, and Ranjan Patra.

In the Doubles Category, Odisha A emerged victorious, defeating Taiwan C in a thrilling final. Semifinal spots were claimed by Odisha B and Taiwan A.

The Classic Category saw Taiwan B clinch the title, with Bihar finishing as runners-up, while Taiwan A and Haryana reached the semifinals. The matches, marked by precision and strategy, drew enthusiastic cheers from the crowd.

At the post-event press meet, Dr. Sanjaya Choudhury, Dr. Chidatmika Khatua, and Dr. Sekh Abdul Samim, Directors of the Iconic Sports Federation (ISF), expressed their delight at the tournament’s success. They shared plans to expand Gateball’s footprint across India, emphasizing its benefits for mental agility, teamwork, and stress relief.

The tournament’s success was made possible with support from SNM Group, TPM, Jindal Steel, Craft Foundation, Sushruta Hospital, Touma Care, and Torrent Advertising, whose contributions were instrumental in delivering a world-class event.

With international participation and high-calibre performances, the 2025 edition of the Iconic India International Open Gateball Tournament truly lived up to its name, setting a benchmark for future editions.
