The film has been officially selected for the 6th Mumbai International Film Festival 2025, and will be screened on 25th September at the prestigious National Film Archive of India (NFAI), Pune.

The Mumbai International Film Festival, supported by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, is one of India’s most prominent platforms for contemporary and meaningful cinema.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Amartya Bhattacharyya and produced by Jhilik Bhattacharjee under the banner of Jhilik Motion Pictures, Lahari has already earned appreciation at the Kolkata and Melbourne International Film Festivals.

The film weaves together the essence of Odisha’s culture, traditions, tourism, and human relationships, particularly the father-son bond, striking a balance between artistic storytelling and commercial appeal. The cast features Choudhury Jayaprakash Das, Smruti Mohla, Dipanwita Das Mahapatra, Debashis Patra (guest role) and superstar Babushan Mohanty in a pivotal role. With music by Kishalay Ray, and the trending song “Jhiara Skurta Dhila..”, the soundtrack has already caught the audience’s attention.

Expressing happiness over the festival selection, the makers said: “It is an honour for Odia cinema to be showcased at such a prestigious platform. We are thrilled to present Lahari to a wider audience.”

While the film’s festival journey continues, the team has urged cine-lovers in Odisha not to miss out: “Friends in Odisha – don’t wait for tomorrow. Watch Lahari today!”
