Bhubaneswar: Odia feature film “Murabi”, which was released in cinema halls across Odisha on April 14, has successfully completed 50 days in theatres, achieving a major milestone at the box office. To mark the occasion, the cast and crew celebrated the film’s success with fans, thanking audiences for their overwhelming love and support throughout its theatrical run.

Actors and members of the production team interacted with moviegoers during the celebration, thanking them for helping the film emerge as one of the notable Odia releases of the year. Fans also shared their appreciation for the film’s emotional storytelling and strong family-centric theme.
Produced under the banner of Mentis Films, “Murabi” revolves around the concept of a family patriarch who serves as the guiding force holding generations together through values, discipline, and responsibility.
The story explores the contrasting philosophies of two family heads—one who believes in strict rules and authority, and another who nurtures relationships through love, compassion, and freedom. Through the conflict and interactions between the two families, the film presents a poignant portrayal of relationships, traditions, and changing social values.
The film is produced by National Award winners Bishal Mourya and Debiprasad Lenka, with Sumanta Bairagi and Agnimitra Behera serving as co-producers. It is the first feature film produced under the Mentis Films banner.
Directed jointly by Peenakee Singh and Sisir Kumar Sahu, “Murabi” features screenplay, dialogues, and lyrics by P. Santosh, while the music has been composed by Agnimitra Behera.
The ensemble cast includes Kuna Tripathy, Jayaprakash Das, Bijayini Mishra, Ankita Mahanti, B.M. Vaishali, Udit Guru, and Prasenjit, whose performances have been widely appreciated by audiences.
The film had generated considerable buzz ahead of its release, with its trailer launch held at the Biju Pattnaik Film and Television Institute of Odisha in the presence of Odisha Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain. A special premiere was also organised at Shreya Swati Cinema Hall, where the cast and crew interacted with fans ahead of the film’s theatrical release.
With its strong emotional core, family-oriented narrative, and positive word-of-mouth, “Murabi” has sustained audience interest for 50 days, reinforcing its place among the successful Odia films of recent times.
