From working as a video cassette delivery boy in Khar to becoming one of the top filmmakers in the country, Madhur Bhandarkar has seen a lot in his eventful journey.

The National Award-winning filmmaker, known for films like Traffic SignalChandni BarCorporatePage 3 and Fashion, was in Vadodara on Friday to attend a film and design festival.

Talking about the trend of Bollywood focusing a lot on remakes of south as well as Hollywood films, Bhandarkar says, “I have produced 15 films so far and I have always focused on original content. I love researching for my films. However, a lot of producers want to play safe and so, they opt for remakes. When they approach actors with a remake, toh actor ko lagta hai ki film already English/regional language mein hit hai, toh 70 per cent safe hai.

But I feel that hindi cinema has a lot of talent waiting to be explored and hence, it must focus on original stories and screenplays.
