Bhubaneswar: The makers of the much-anticipated Odia film *Ananta*, starring Sabyasachi Mishra, have unveiled the first look of actress Jyotirmayee Panda as Debaki Gauduni—Ananta’s mother. The poster, released today, introduces Debaki as “one of the strongest characters” from the original story by legendary writer Byasakabi Fakir Mohan Senapati.
*Ananta*, formerly titled *Randipua Ananta*, is based on the timeless short story *Randipua Ananta*. The film’s original title aimed to honor its literary roots, but drew criticism from some quarters due to the perceived harshness of the term “Randi.” In response, the makers decided to retitle the film to simply *Ananta*, maintaining the essence while ensuring broader acceptance.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sabyasachi Mohapatra and produced by Amara Studios in collaboration with Kumar Pictures, the film is slated for release during the upcoming Raja festival—a time of major cultural celebration in Odisha. Expectations are high for *Ananta*, with fans eagerly awaiting its emotional and literary depth.
Lead actor Sabyasachi Mishra has undergone a striking physical transformation for the role, reportedly gaining over 105 kg to authentically portray the character. Mishra was last seen in the critically acclaimed *Pushkara*, directed by Subhransu Das.
With a powerful storyline, strong performances, and deep cultural resonance, *Ananta* is shaping up to be one of the most awaited Odia films of the year.
