Bhubaneswar: EMRI Green Health Services proudly marks the successful completion of one year in managing the 108 Ambulance Services across the state of Odisha.
Since its establishment in India in 2005, EMRI Green Health Services has emerged as a leading organization in the field of pre-hospital emergency medical response and patient transport, providing timely, professional, and compassionate care to millions of people across the country.
With a dedicated workforce of over 60,000 trained professionals, EMRI Green Health Services continues to expand its reach across 16 states and Union Territories in India, reaffirming its position as one of the nation’s most trusted emergency response providers.
In Odisha, 108 Ambulance Service launched on 5th March 2013 with just 281 ambulances. Over the years, the service has grown into a robust network that now includes 860 emergency ambulances, 500 Janani ambulances, and 6 boat ambulances, ensuring that emergency medical assistance reaches even the most remote and hard-to-reach corners of the state.
In Odisha, the organization has been operating the 108 Emergency Medical Ambulance Service, 108 Referral Transport (Janani Ambulance), and the 104 Health Helpline since 21st October 2024 under the IPTHHS-II project in partnership with the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Odisha.
The organization’s unwavering focus on accessibility and efficiency has transformed the state’s emergency healthcare landscape, bridging critical gaps in rural and tribal regions where timely intervention often means the difference between life and death.
Since its inception, the 108 service in Odisha has extended medical support to more than 1.32 crore citizens.
During the past one year, EMRI Green Health Services has provided life-saving assistance to 14,84,027 beneficiaries, including 3,68,733 pregnant women. Through the strategic use of advanced technology, real-time tracking, and optimized dispatch systems, the organization has succeeded in reducing the average response time to just 20 minutes, thereby ensuring that patients in need receive prompt and effective care in critical situations such as road accidents, cardiac emergencies, trauma, and maternal complications.
Beyond emergency response, EMRI Green Health Services has also undertaken extensive community outreach and awareness initiatives to strengthen public understanding of emergency medical services. These initiatives, especially in rural areas, aim to educate citizens about the importance of timely access to healthcare, the use of the 108 and 104 helplines, and basic first-aid knowledge that can help save lives during emergencies. The organization continues to invest in regular training programs for its emergency medical technicians, pilots, and call center staff to maintain high standards of professionalism, empathy, and patient safety.
On this occasion, Sabyasachi Biswal, State Head, EMRI Green Health Services, Odisha, stated that, “The 108 Ambulance Service has become a true lifeline for the people of Odisha. Every day, between 5,000 to 6,000 citizens benefit from this service.
