Bhubaneswar: The upcoming Odia horror film Dahaan – The Evil Within has officially received an ‘A’ certificate, signalling an adult-only theatrical experience ahead of its worldwide release on September 11, 2026.

The makers announced the certification with a chilling message, describing the ‘A’ certificate as “not just a rating, but a warning” and urging audiences to “enter the theatre if you dare.” The promotional material also carries a viewer-discretion advisory, stating that the film is not intended for children, the elderly or people with heart conditions.

Written and directed by Anupam Patnaik, Dahaan – The Evil Within is produced by Anupam Patnaik and Barsha Patnaik. The film is set to arrive in cinemas during the Ganesh Puja festive season, with Rajshri Release associated with its theatrical distribution.

The film has already generated significant buzz through its official teaser, character reveals and music releases, building anticipation around its dark supernatural narrative. The makers have positioned Dahaan as a horror film made exclusively for the big-screen experience.

The ensemble cast includes Barsha Patnaik, Aurosikha Mishra, Samrat Mohapatra, Sijan Mohapatra, Partha Sarathi Ray, Choudhury JayPrakash Das, Nishant Majithia, Pranab Prasanna Rath, Navya Jaiti, Prasanjeet Mohapatra, Mohan Majithia, Debadutta Nanda and Amitabh Patra.

The film also stands out for its location, having been shot at the historic Killa Dalijoda, a nearly century-old former royal hunting lodge in Odisha. The cast and crew stayed at the heritage property for more than a month during the shoot, with its imposing architecture contributing to the film’s eerie atmosphere.

With its ‘A’ certification now official, Dahaan – The Evil Within is set to bring its brand of darkness and supernatural horror to theatres on September 11, with the makers warning audiences that viewer discretion is advised.
