Bhoomika Dash, Akash Hota Form New Pair in Sanjay Mishra’s Odia Debut

Bhubaneswar: Odia actors Bhoomika Dash and Akash Hota are set to share the screen as a new pairing in the upcoming Odia film that marks the Odia cinema debut of Bollywood actor Sanjay Mishra.

Bhoomika recently shared a photograph with Akash on social media, teasing their collaboration and creating curiosity among fans about the project. Sharing the picture, she wrote, “Some stories are meant to be felt before they are revealed… A new journey, a new story, and a little Dussehra surprise from us!”

She further teased the upcoming film, saying, “We’re so excited to bring our upcoming film to you this festive season. But before we reveal it… can you guess the film name?”
The photograph has sparked interest in the new on-screen pairing, with the makers keeping the film’s title under wraps. The project is expected to be formally unveiled around Dussehra.

The film is being produced under the banner of Auroshree Films and directed by Mrutyunjay Sahoo. Shooting is already underway, with Sanjay Mishra arriving in Bhubaneswar on Thursday for the shoot. Mishra is scheduled to stay in Odisha until August 26.

The film features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Mishra, Maheswata Ray, Bhoomika Dash, Akash Hota, Sanoj, Pragya, Sushant and Krishna Kar. It is being presented as a nostalgic romantic entertainer inspired by the flavour and emotions of the 1980s.
Promoted with the tagline “80s Romance is Back,” the film is planned as a Durga Puja 2026 release and promises a blend of romance, drama and nostalgia.

Mishra, an alumnus of the National School of Drama, is known for his versatile performances in Hindi cinema, with notable films including Ankhon Dekhi, Masaan, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Kadvi Hawa, Kaamyaab and Vadh. His entry into Odia cinema is being closely watched, particularly as he takes on a new regional-language challenge after working in Bengali cinema.

With the title still undisclosed and the new pairing of Bhoomika and Akash generating buzz, the makers appear to be building anticipation ahead of their Dussehra reveal.
