Actor Javed Khan Amrohi passes away in Mumbai

Actor Javed Khan Amrohi, popular for his iconic roles in flicks like Andaz Apna Apna (1994) and Lagaan (2001), breathed his last on Tuesday at a hospital in Mumbai.

Filmmaker Ramesh Talwar confirmed Javed’s death to a news agency that the actor, who had worked in the yesteryears popular TV show Nukkad, was suffering from a breathing ailment.

Javed had been bedridden for one year and was undergoing treatment in Mumbai. “He passed away at the hospital around 1 pm as both his lungs failed,” Talwar added.

Actor Akhilendra Mishra, who often worked with Javed also shared the news of the actor’s death on his Facebook page. “Vinamra shraddhanjali Javed Khan saheb, behtareen abhineta, varishta rangkarmi IPTA ke sakriya sadasya (Humble tribute Javed Khan sir. Best actor, senior artist, active member of IPTA).”

Javed Khan’s death sadly leaves a gaping hole in the industry filled with veteran artists, actors and comics. Our tribute to the departed soul. May he rest in peace.
