Bhubaneswar: The timeless charm of Odia cinema is set to reach international audiences as the restored version of Nirad N. Mohapatra’s acclaimed film Maya Miriga (1984) travels to Taipei.
The restoration, undertaken by FHF, will be screened at the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 5 PM, and again on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 1 PM, both shows at the institute’s cinema.

Maya Miriga (English: The Mirage) is a poignant tale of family life, exploring the intricate emotional bonds that tie three generations under a decaying roof. The story delves into the quiet struggles, affections, and painful realizations that shape the family’s way of life, highlighting the impermanence of these cherished relationships.
Directed by Nirad N. Mohapatra, the film features memorable performances by Kishori Devi, Sampad Mohapatra, and Manaswini Mangaraj. Since its release, the film has been celebrated for its sensitive portrayal of human relationships and remains a milestone in Odia cinema.
