‘Madhumallati’: Bhoomika Dash Revealed as Malati in New Odia Film

Bhubaneswar: The first look of ‘Madhumallati’, an upcoming Odia film promising a timeless tale of love, emotions and nostalgia, has been unveiled by the makers, with actor Bhoomika Dash introduced as the character Malati.

The first look was shared by Auroshree Films, which teased the film as a story that is “meant to be felt before they are told.” The makers described Madhumallati as a tale rooted in love, emotions and nostalgia, while presenting Malati as a special and deeply emotional character.

The film is directed by Mrutyunjay Sahoo and produced by Ashok Kumar Padhy and Kishore Mishra. The makers have also described Malati as a character with a connection to history, adding another layer of intrigue to the project.

Bhoomika Dash, who essays Malati, is expected to play a pivotal role in the narrative. The first-look announcement has also heightened curiosity around the film’s storyline and the historical backdrop associated with the character.

Madhumallati is also significant as it marks the Odia film debut of Bollywood actor Sanjay Mishra. The National Award-winning actor has already arrived in Bhubaneswar for the film’s shooting, which is underway.

The film brings together an ensemble cast, including Sanjay Mishra, Maheswata Ray, Akash Hota, Sanoj, Pragya, Sushant and Krishna Kar, alongside Bhoomika Dash.
Earlier, Bhoomika had teased the project by sharing a photograph with Akash Hota, hinting at a new on-screen pairing and a “Dussehra surprise”. The film is being positioned as a nostalgic romantic entertainer and is slated for a Durga Puja 2026 release.

With the title now revealed as Madhumallati and Bhoomika’s first look as Malati unveiled, the makers are gradually opening up the world of the film while keeping several details of its story under wraps.
