New Odia Film ‘Back Benchers’ Announced, Set to Bring Back School Memories

Bhubaneswar: A new Odia film titled “Back Benchers” has been officially announced, promising a nostalgic journey into the world of childhood, friendship, school-day mischief and dreams.

Presented by Surya Cine Production, the upcoming film is directed by Tapas Sargharia and produced by Surya Narayan Gouda.
The makers describe Back Benchers as a story rooted in the unforgettable memories of school life—the friendships that shaped childhood, the dreams that inspired young minds, and the moments of fun and mischief that remain close to the heart long after the school years are over.

With its theme centred on childhood nostalgia and friendship, the film aims to take audiences back to the days of classrooms, school corridors and the special bonds formed during those formative years.
“Back Benchers” is slated for release in Summer 2027.
