Bhubaneswar: National Award-winning filmmaker Amartya Bhattacharyya’s critically acclaimed Odia film Lahari will be screened at the Bhubaneswar Film Festival (BFF) on June 25 at Jaydev Bhavan, Bhubaneswar. The screening is scheduled for 11:30 AM and is expected to draw film enthusiasts, cinephiles, and members of the Odia film fraternity.
The screening comes at a time when Lahari is receiving widespread attention following its theatrical release across more than 30 cinema halls in Odisha. The film has already earned accolades at prestigious events including the Kolkata International Film Festival and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
Produced by Jhilik Bhattacharjee under the banner of Jhilik Motion Pictures, Lahari is a poignant coming-of-age drama that explores themes of friendship, fatherhood, and personal growth against the picturesque backdrop of Odisha’s eco-tourism destinations. Through its narrative, the film celebrates the state’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and entrepreneurial spirit.
The ensemble cast features Choudhury Jayaprakash Das, Choudhury Bikash Das, Dipanwit Dashmohapatra, Smruti Ranjan Mahala, Susant Misra, Swastik Choudhury, and Zeinab Doer. Popular actor Devasis Patra appears in a guest role, while leading Odia star Babushan Mohanty makes a special cameo appearance.
Music for the film has been composed by Kisaloy Roy, with vocals by Gaurav Anand and Navya Jaity. The sound design has been crafted by Anindit Roy and Adeep Singh Manki. Besides directing, Amartya Bhattacharyya has also handled the story, lyrics, cinematography, and editing, showcasing his multifaceted creative vision.
