Bhubaneswar: After putting an end to weeks of debate and controversy, the new Odia film “Pari” was released across 20 theatres in Odisha, drawing an encouraging response from audiences. The film’s premiere show was held at Stuti Cineplex in Bhubaneswar, where several film producers, directors, actors and critics watched the film alongside general viewers.
The film is produced by Sanjay Mohanty and directed by Tripati Sahu. Dialogues have been penned by Dr Rajani Ranjan, while the songs, written by Pramod Parida, are set to music by the Japani Bhai duo. Playback singers include Antara Chakraborty, Ruku Suna and Dr Rohan Biswal. Choreography has been handled by Amit Nayak and S K Muralidharan.
The lead roles are played by Jyoti Ranjan Nayak and Anuradha Panigrahi, whose on-screen chemistry has been widely appreciated by the audience.
“Pari” is a hard-hitting and sensitive film that highlights the alarming rise in sexual crimes against innocent children in society. The story revolves around Pari, a tender and innocent child, cherished as a dream by her parents, whose life is tragically destroyed by brutal sexual predators. In a society where money, power, prestige and politics often overpower justice, the film raises a powerful question — does Pari ultimately receive justice? The emotionally charged narrative keeps the story gripping and thought-provoking till the end.
The story has been written by producer Sanjay Mohanty ,with Chandan Swain and Anil Baliarsingh as co-producers. Dhrubananda Panda (Litu) has handled cinematography, while Chandrasekhar Mishra has edited the film. The publicity and promotional responsibilities are managed by media planner and creative head Pranaya Jethi.
Apart from the lead cast, the film features performances by Sritam Das, Nilamani Sahu, Pradyumna Lenka, Soumya Adhikari, Guddu, Jagannath Sahu, Naresh Rautray, Niranjan Acharya, Biswal, Papi Santuka, and child artists Divyanshi and Sneha, among others.
Following the screenings, a strong sense of social awareness was evident among viewers.
Many audience members remarked emotionally that Pari is not just one child’s story, but represents every child in society, calling the film a powerful social message. Encouraged by the strong opening-day turnout and positive word of mouth, the makers have expressed confidence that “Pari” will emerge as a critically and commercially appreciated film among Odia audiences.
