‘Udra’ Charitable Trust Launches Winter Clothing Drive and Special Program “Big Dreams on Christmas”
Bhubaneswar: The “Thile Dia, Nothile Nia” initiative, inspired by renowned literary figure, social worker, and labor leader Mayadhar Nayak, received a new impetus today as the Udra Charitable Trust officially launched its annual clothing collection campaign at 4 PM at the Odisha Association for the Deaf in Palashpalli, Bhubaneswar.
This year’s campaign focuses on collecting both new and gently used clothing to distribute among underprivileged communities. The event also featured the trust’s special program, “Big Dreams on Christmas”, which has, for several years, ensured that children and families in need receive clothing and essential items during the festive season.
Speaking on the occasion, Shubhrajyoti Dasnayak, Secretary of Udra Charitable Trust, highlighted the overwhelming public support the initiative has received over the years and announced that the campaign will now run throughout the year. “From today, members of the Udra family across Odisha will carry forward this initiative, bringing smiles to those who do not have adequate clothing,” she said.
The campaign invites citizens to contribute their old garments and help give them a new life. “Sharing happiness increases happiness itself,” Dasnayak added. Children at the event celebrated by cutting cakes, marking the festive spirit of Christmas, while also expressing gratitude to the organizers and volunteers of the Udra Charitable Trust.
The program was attended and coordinated by prominent personalities, including Odia film actress Poonam Mishra, Udra Charitable Trust Editor Shubhrajyoti Dasnayak, Vice President Suryaprakash S. Chaudhuri, Shubhashree Mangaraj, Vaishnav Bhol, Debiprasad Mangaraj, Ansha Dasnayak, Amulya, Dapas, Bishwaranjan Panda, Papu, and the entire team of the Udra Charitable Trust.
Over the years, the trust has organized various initiatives aimed at reaching the marginalized sections of society, spreading joy, and bringing small smiles to those who often go unnoticed.
