‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar’ revives rom-com genre

‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar’, a new romantic comedy by Luv Ranjan of Pyaar Ka Punchnama fame, is currently enjoying a dream run at the box office. Starring two of the hip and happening kapoors of the industry (Ranbir & Shraddha), Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar started its box-office journey on a high and collected over 15 crore on its opening day.

As per trade pundits, this is an impressive collection since many feel the rom-com to be a ‘dead genre’ in the post COVID time. This number also marked the second-best opening by a Hindi film, just after the mammoth SRK starrer ‘Pathaan’.

The second day witnessed a slight dip in the collections as it was a working day, however, the film remained rock steady at the box office and collected about over Rs 11 crore. This brings the consecutive figures of the film to north of Rs 25 crore.
