Spreading Road Safety Awareness with Ollywood Stars

Bhubaneswar: Ollywood stars Sabyasachi Mishra, Elina Samantaray, Sivani Sangita, Divya Mohanty, and Sailendra  joined Commissionerate Police to inspire and promote road safety awareness.

Commissioner of Police Soumendra Priyadarshi joined as the chief guest, along with the support of organizations like Young Indians and Jai Odisha.

After the guests’ address, the campaign visited the streets for awareness , distributing chocolates and flowers at AG Chowk to commend drivers adhering to traffic laws.

To create road safety awareness among the citizen, the Commerce and Transport Department of Odisha has declared the first week of January 2024 i.e. from 1st January to 7th January, as the Road Safety Week.

The theme of this year’s Road safety week is “Sadak Surakhya – Parivar Rakhya”.

Earlier, the state government had launched a operating procedure (SOP) for vehicles going on picnics and pilgrimages, and a walkathon were among the host of events that marked inauguration of state-level Road Safety Week 2024 here, Monday.

Commerce and Transport (C&T) Minister Tukuni Sahu inaugurated the seven-day state-level Road Safety Week 2024 – themed ‘Sadak Surakhya, Parivar Rakhya’ – at KIIT Deemed to be University here in the morning.

As part of the event, a van was flagged off that will move throughout the district and showcase short films in order to spread awareness on road safety.
