Sonalli Sharmisstha’s Omlo Selected for Cannes Festival

Bhubaneswar: Odisha-born actress Sonalli Sharmisstha is once again bringing pride to her home state as her latest film, Omlo, is set to be showcased at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival Market 2025 on May 13, 2025.

Produced under the banner of Hare Krishna Pictures, *Omlo is a powerful social drama written and directed by Sonu Randeep Choudhury. The film has been selected as part of the market’s curated showcase of impactful independent cinema, marking its official international debut.

Set in the rustic landscape of Shree Dungargarh, Bikaner (Rajasthan)**, *Omlo* tells a poignant story centered on a 7-year-old boy and a camel, both navigating the painful reality of helplessness**. The narrative delves deep into the emotional and psychological toll of **patriarchal oppression** and **generational trauma**, where family members are dehumanized in a system that treats them like animals. Hailing from **Jajpur, Odisha**, Sonalli began her acting journey at the age of 7, performing street plays in her village under the guidance of her aunt.
