Bhubaneswar: The makers of the environmental-themed Odia movie *Simli* recently met with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and invited him to a special premiere of the film, which is set to release on March 14. During the meeting, the filmmakers expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for his government’s efforts in safeguarding and conserving the environment and forest areas in Odisha.

The movie’s official trailer and music were launched at a special event at the Press Club in Bhubaneswar, attended by several notable figures, including Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra and Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia. Also present were MLAs Sanjali Murm, Bangriposi MLA, Bhadav Hansdah Saraskana MLA, and Prakash Soren Baripada MLA.

*Simli: The Untold Story of Similipal* aims to highlight the ongoing issues of animal poaching and illegal tree cutting in the Similipal forest, despite existing laws and regulations. The film focuses on the struggles to stop these illegal activities and protect the region’s biodiversity.

The film is produced by Smita Rout, who also wrote the story, with direction by Sukumar Mani. The cast includes Suryamayee Mohapatra, Manoj Rout, Lipika Senapati, Anupa Saha, and Chaudhary Bikash Das. The music is composed by Bachu Mukharjee, Bishnu Mohan Kabi, and SB Smruti, while cinematography is handled by Dhrubabanada Panda and the art direction by Ganesh.

With Odia audiences increasingly looking for realistic and impactful storytelling, *Simli* aims to continue the recent trend of successful and well-received Odia films. The movie’s promotional efforts are led by Media Planner and Creative Head Pranay Jethi.
