Bhubaneswar: “Baliyatra” is a poignant theatrical performance depicting the glorious history of the legendary Sadhabas — the ancient Kalinga seafarers. The play beautifully brings to life their extraordinary experiences through an innovative artistic approach.

Based on a poetic creation by the revered Guru Chandrabhanu Satapathy, Baliyatra is a magnificent theatrical adaptation. The concept, songwriting, and musical direction have all been handled by Guru Chandrabhanu Satapathy himself. The play is being directed by Bini Samal.

Produced by Saishraddha Productions, this project marks a unique effort by Bini Samal to showcase the story globally and revive the lost glory of Kalinga’s maritime heritage.

The key roles are being portrayed by Ashrumochan Mohanty, Sritam Das, Sukant Rath, Akhil Pattnaik, Saheb Singh, Soham, Subhashish, Shakti Baral, Shambhu Khuntia, Milu, Hiteisha Bag, Loverin Khan, Soumya Sucharita Sahoo, Sangeeta Behera, Mamali Sahoo, Lipsa Maharana, and Priyanka Sahoo. The choreography is by Bobby Islam.

The shooting is currently taking place at Parikud and Bhingarpur. The play will be formally released on November 5 at Utkal Mandap in Bhubaneswar by His Excellency the Governor.

Following the success of “Shree Jagannathanka Nabakalebara”, this production — guided by Guru Chandrabhanu Satapathy and brought to life by Bini Samal — is set to be another milestone in Odia theatrical art.
