Rani Mukerji to be back in the police force

Bollywood star Rani Mukerji is earning lavish praise for her exceptional performance in her latest flick Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. The film was directed by Ashima Chibber.

The actress though, believes in looking ahead.

Reportedly, Rani Mukerji is raring to face the camera for her next. Mukerji hopes to reprise the role of Shivani Shivaji Roy, the tough-as-nails cop who is at the centre of the Mardaani franchise.

“I hope the writers develop the sequel fast. I’ve had many people asking me when Mardaani 3 will come. But I have always maintained that a film is driven by a script. If the script is not exciting, there is no point [making a franchise],” says the actor, who headed the cop drama Mardaani in 2014.

Mardaani’s blockbuster success led it seeing a sequel Mardaani 2 in 2019, directed by Gopi Puthran.
