‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ box office collection day 2: Mani Ratnam’s film sees a dip

The most anticipated film of the year ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ saw a theatrical release on April 28.

Directed by Mani Ratnam, the historical epic drama features Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Jayam Ravi, Karthi and Trisha in lead roles. The movie after its release, received a lot of positive reviews and was critically acclaimed. Fans comparing the movie with its prequel, said that the second part of the film contained the actual story.

The movie has reportedly grossed 56 crore in two days. The movie on day 1 made Rs 38 crore and on April 29, the film managed to make Rs 18 crore at the box office. The muti-starrer saw a dip though it was the weekend. It is unclear as to why the film is seeing a dip in theatres when compared to day 1 though the reviews have been only positive.

However, it is expected that the film will still perform well at the theatres and try to manage to make a box office collection similar to ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’. ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ will make its digital premiere in June second week and it will be released on the same OTT platform that the prequel of the film was released in.
