The year 2023 was a mixed bag for the Odia film industry. While 2022 provided a gimmer of hope with movies like DAMAN, Pratikshya, and Adieu Godard garnering critical appreciation, 2023 will be remembered for controversies.

While the year brought huge success for the hindi film industry, back home the Manoj Mishra an actor producer of repute was banned by producers organsiation. The decision was not taken wel by the fans of the actor and thius an division was created in the industry. He was boycotted for allegedly asking his supporters to disruot the screening of Arindam Roy starrer Ram. The clash led to huge uproar and that led to many odia movies suffer. The producers and makes jointly sat in protest to demand a solution from the government. Let’s hope that the 2024 will not be like this

 

Lipika Singh Darai

While not much can be written about the fate of Odia movies, barring a few like Phalguna Chalita, Puskara, and My Sweet House, vidual achievements the state proud Four-the National Award winner Lipika Singh Darai carmer the rare distinction of being one of the ten figures fron the Indian industry selected for the prestigious BAFTA British Academy of Film And Televsion and Arts Breakthrough initiative

Odisha Born actor Prem Parija made his debut as protagonist in Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s action-thriller web series based on the popular film Commando which originally starred Vidyut Jammwal. The web series premiered on Disney + Hotstar

Pintu Nanda, who started his career through Odia daily soap died in Hyderabad Math 1, 2023 , at the age of 45, due to cirrhosis of the liver. He sppeared in more than 115 Oda movies as hero, villain, character artiste and comedian
