Bhubaneswar: In a dramatic turn of events that has sent shockwaves through Odisha’s film industry, popular Ollywood actor Partha Sarathi Ray was arrested Thursday by the Badagada Town Police in Bhubaneswar. The arrest was made following the issuance of a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court, citing his failure to comply with multiple court summons in connection with a criminal case.
The charges against Ray are severe, involving kidnapping, attempt to murder, extortion, and criminal intimidation with firearms. He is also accused of circulating obscene photos and videos, further complicating his legal troubles. The NBW was issued after the court noted Ray’s repeated violations of legal procedures and evasion of mandatory appearances.
Acting promptly on the warrant, a police team from Badagada took Ray into custody earlier today and produced him before the concerned court. The legal proceedings are currently underway, and further hearings are expected in the coming days.
As of now, neither Ray nor his legal counsel has issued a formal statement. Attempts to reach his representatives have been unsuccessful.
Partha Sarathi Ray rose to fame through his performance in the critically acclaimed film Hello Arsi (2018), which earned him the Best Actor Award at the 29th Odisha State Film Awards. He has since starred in several notable Odia films including Phalguna Chaitra, Dalchini, Trikanya, Charitra, and Dear Purusha, as well as appearing in popular TV serials.
The arrest has left the Odia film fraternity stunned, with fans and colleagues expressing disbelief. Many are now calling for a thorough and transparent legal process to ensure justice is served.
